In the midst of the best game of his rookie season, Ottawa Senators forward Stephen Halliday was forced to leave after taking a scary hit.
Halliday was skating along the boards in front of the Vegas Golden Knights bench when Tomas Hertl laid a check that sent the 23-year-old into the stanchion.
A fourth-round pick of the Senators in 2022, Halliday had to be helped off the ice and down the tunnel towards the Ottawa dressing room.
After the game, Senators head coach Travis Green had no update on Halliday's status, per Hockey Hot Stove's Murray Pam. But captain Brady Tkachuk said the rookie "feels good, feels okay. So hopefully it's nothing too severe."
Halliday had two goals and three points in the Senators' strong performance against the Golden Knights, both of which represent career-highs in his short time in the NHL.
The left-shot centre was recalled for his Ottawa debut in late December, and after Sunday's strong performance, he has three goals and 10 points in 21 games.
